Summary

Warren Village’s two Early Learning Centers (ELCs)—the United Airlines ELC at Gilpin and the Mile High United Way ELC at Alameda—serve children ages 6 weeks to 10 years old in a comprehensive, high-quality early learning environment with a strong emphasis on whole-child development, teacher training, and application of Conscious Discipline®. These centers are attached to low-income, transitional and permanent supportive housing complexes and are open to resident families as well as the surrounding community. The Instructional Coach is responsible for teacher training and development in all areas of high-quality instruction. This position develops and facilitates professional development opportunities for early learning professionals or those seeking a career in early learning and coordinates professional development special programs, ensuring opportunities are delivered in a way that is culturally responsive, supportive, and reflective of trauma-informed principles. This position will be split between Warren Village’s two ELCs and will require equal time at each.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Collaborative Leadership
    • Works closely with the director, administrative team, and community partners (including Head Start) to uphold high instructional standards and ensure the effective implementation of curricula that best serve young children.
    • Engages in coaching cycles and professional development to support teachers in continuous improvement, reflective practices, goal-setting, and effective content delivery.
  • Teacher Support and Development

  • Collaborates with teachers and teaching teams to set and achieve goals based on various data sources (e.g., Teaching Strategies GOLD® (TSG), Devereux Early Childhood Assessment (DECA), Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ-3, ASQ-SE2), and classroom observations).
  • Provides guidance on classroom management, positive discipline, and daily classroom scheduling.
  • Assists in organizing the physical classroom environment and promotes self-reflection and analysis among staff.
    • Professional Development and Training
      • Designs, plans, and facilitates professional development sessions for teaching staff, including training on anti-bias education, trauma-informed practices, Conscious Discipline®, Creative Curriculum®, and brain-based social-emotional techniques.
      • Onboards new staff in curricula and assessments, providing ongoing support in using tools like TSG, DECA, ASQ, Early Screening Inventory (ESI).
      • Ensures the quality implementation of these practices.
      • Builds leadership capacity amongst teachers center-wide.
  • Program Monitoring, Compliance, and Data Reporting
    • Monitors lesson planning, home visits, and parent-teacher conferences to ensure data accuracy and compliance with licensing regulations and quality standards.
    • Manages the central learning supply closet and maintains an effective system for supply management.
    • Collects data fastidiously and prepares necessary data reports for various stakeholders, working closely with the Advocacy and Strategy Manager and the Assistant Director to ensure data accuracy.
  • Professionalism and Conflict Resolution
    • Models professionalism, including cooperation with peers, self-regulation, and commitment to continuous professional development.
    • Effectively resolves conflicts among educational staff and assists with problem-solving as needed.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Provides classroom support as needed and attends trainings and staff meetings.
    • Other duties as assigned.

  • Technology systems aptitude. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours within the work week. Flexibility to adapt therapy schedule to meet the evolving needs and dynamics of the community.

Minimum/Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (including curriculum, instruction, and assessment) or related field or at least 4 years of work experience in an educational field.
  • Three years of related experience, with at least one year in supervision.
  • Two years’ computer experience, including database management skills and Brightwheel.
  • Active coaching credential.
  • Ability to pass State of Colorado (and out-of-state, as applicable) fingerprint and background checks.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Current research on child development, developmentally appropriate practices, and Colorado Early Learning and Development Guidelines.
    • Anti-bias education and culturally responsive & trauma-informed practices.
    • Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG) Observational Assessment (or transferrable skills from other observational assessments).
    • Creative Curriculum® or transferrable infant/toddler/preschool curriculum knowledge and desire to quickly learn Creative Curriculum®.
    • Conscious Discipline®.
    • Infant/Toddler/Early Childhood Environment Rating Scales (ITERS-3, ECERS-3).
    • NAEYC Accreditation Process, Colorado Shines Improvement Rating Process, Head Start requirements and documentation.

  • All licensing and health department rules and regulations for the State of Colorado.
    • Colorado Large Center Director Qualification Verification.
  • TB test clearance.
  • First Aid certification.

Preferred education, knowledge, and/or experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) in Early Childhood Education or related field or at least 8 years of work experience in an educational field.
  • Bilingual and/or experience with culturally diverse people a plus.
  • A valid Colorado driver’s license.
  • Interrater-Reliability Certificate.
  • Ages & Stages Questionnaires for Development (ASQ-3) and Social-Emotional Behaviors (ASQ-SE2).
  • Devereux Early Childhood Assessment (DECA) and The Early Screening Inventory (ESI).

Work Environment: The working environment is typically that of a classroom setting, including using a computer and other educational tools, year-round. The Educational Coach may be exposed to contagious/ill children and must therefore be conscious of their own health and safety as well as that of the children, parents, and school personnel. The environment includes unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Physical Demands: While performing these duties, the Educational Coach will occasionally be required to lift up to 40 pounds and frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, and crouch, within and outside the building.

Salary & Benefits: Typical hiring range of: $59,450 - $68,725 DOE and certification (Full salary range up to $72,200 for long tenured staff or other exceptional candidates)
