EMyth Business Coach (Remote U.S. Applicants Only)
You’re dedicated to continuously learning about yourself, from your experience, from other people and from observing life. You look for and receive feedback to learn about yourself. You want to know about your blind spots so you can do something about them and become a better, happier, more effective and authentic version of yourself. To you, feedback is support, evidence of someone’s investment in you, not a personal attack or evidence of rejection. You’re discerning and open. Most of the time, you’re able to quickly integrate a new awareness about yourself and shift your behavior.
Because of your genuine interest in your own blind spots, you love helping people uncover their blind spots so they can also become better, happier, more effective and authentic versions of themselves. You know that the process of transforming how clients think, feel and act isn’t easy, but you can stay present with people and focused on the results they’re looking for no matter what’s distracting you.
You’ve owned a business, managed a team or had other work/life experiences that have given you an intimate understanding of what it’s like to own and operate a small business.
You have an uncommon ability to attune to people and, instead of taking things at face value, you’re actively curious about what people really mean and why they do what they do. You hear things others miss. Rather than making assumptions or judgments, you make discernments and ask questions to learn more—even the kinds of questions others avoid asking. You rarely get hooked by other people’s emotional reactions. They just make you more interested in uncovering the unproductive beliefs that keep people stuck.
You tell people the truth with honesty and compassion particularly when it’s difficult. It’s more important to you to help others grow and face challenges than avoid tender subjects in the name of harmony. The people who know you best value your ability to listen, show genuine empathy and offer wisdom and insight.
You’re inspired by the opportunity to use your skills in combination with our proven system to help business owners produce the results they’re yearning for.
If this sounds like you, we’d love to talk with you.
An EMyth Coach isn’t a generic business coach. EMyth isn’t simply helping clients get better at leadership, marketing, finance, sales, etc. EMyth represents a point of view about how to build a business that works that doesn’t depend on the owner, and how most small business owners need to shift their thinking to get there. You’ll use your skills and our system to help each client transform from someone who’s good at the work of their business to someone who’s good at leading a business that does that work. And, since change is difficult for most of us, you’ll be an immovable and compassionate advocate for the EMyth Perspective in the face of procrastination, resistance and fear in your clients’ process of change.
What you’ll need:
If you’re a former EMyth Client or you’ve worked in a business that’s applied EMyth principles, we’re especially interested in talking with you.
Our mission at EMyth is simple: to help every small business owner create a business they love leading and a life they love living. We pioneered the business coaching industry in 1977, which was followed by the release of The EMyth Revisited by EMyth founder Michael E. Gerber. It's one of the 10 best-selling business books of all time and has inspired millions of business owners to work on their business, not just in it. Based on the principles of the book, the EMyth Coaching Program and our business owners community, EMyth Connect, are is designed to help business owners make the transition from Technicians, whose businesses work because of them, to Entrepreneurs, whose businesses can flourish without them.
EMyth has developed, over decades, proprietary business development products and services designed to assist business owners in building a business that works. The EMyth Coaching Program offers business owners a comprehensive system with a proven methodology and set of practical tools.
We welcome applicants of any gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, race, age, socioeconomic and family status, disability and veteran status. Employment at EMyth is based on merit and an applicant’s qualifications for each position. We’re committed to maintaining a workplace free of bias, prejudice, bullying, discrimination, verbal and physical violations of any kind. We’re looking for people who are curious, open-minded and self-aware, who can build co-creative relationships with their teammates that support small business owners in building a business and a life they love leading .
If this sounds like you, please submit your most recent resume and a cover letter. In your cover letter, tell us about yourself and why you’re attracted to this work and EMyth in particular. NOTE: If you don't see a designated place to upload your cover letter as a separate file, please add it to your resume and upload them together in a single file.
Because who you are is as important to us as what you’ve done, only applications with cover letters will be considered. For this role, we’re also only considering applicants who are United States residents and eligible to work in the United States.
