Reports to: Grounds Supervisor / Director of Facilities
The Ethel Walker School has an opening for a general maintenance worker in our Facilities department. This is a full time, non-exempt position.
Responsibilities:
Perform general grounds maintenance duties including: mowing/mulching, athletic field preparation, snow shoveling, snow-blowing, snow-plowing, garden maintenance, operate grounds equipment, chainsaw work, fence repairs.
Perform varied general maintenance work including: framing, painting, carpentry, finish trim, sheetrock, remodeling and construction knowledge, general repair and maintenance work to floors, roofs, walls, stairways, windows, cabinetmaking, lock repair and key maintenance and other duties as assigned.
Able to operate all types of power and hand tools used in carpentry work.
Perform other duties as necessary to support the maintenance team and other departments.
Requirements:
Physically able to climb on and off of equipment used.
Ability to safely operate powered hand tools involving use of both hands and both legs.
Ability to lift, move, and carry loads such as bags of ice-melter, a bale of hay, etc. – up to 75lbs.
Valid driver’s license
Ability to think and respond appropriately to requests for assistance by members of the community.
Must be able to come in early or work late as needed to respond to weather or other conditions.
Must be able to work campus events as needed.
Ability to communicate and function as part of a team.
Must participate in monthly safety training programs.
May be asked to take rotation as designated on-call person after familiarity with campus is achieved.
