Job Description
THE JOB We are currently hiring a Journeyman Welder to join our Vancouver, WA team on swing shift. This position will be responsible for maintaining and repairing all barge and tug hulls, and other equipment associated with petroleum, grain, and other barges and tugs.
- Performs general cutting, welding, and steel fabrication as well as dry dock operation and related work as assigned.
- Completes maintenance on vessel's propellers, shafts, rudders, and other tug machinery.
- Operates equipment including, but not limited to, welding equipment, wire feeds, overhead cranes, rolling stock and lift equipment as trained and certified.
- Responsible for maintenance on barge unloading machinery.
- Executes cleaning on cargo compartments, including, but not limited to, petroleum, grain, and miscellaneous cargos.
THE BENEFITS & PAY - Hiring Wage Range: $32.63 - $43.32 /hour; Position Wage Range: $32.63 - $46.88 / hour

THE CATCH - Requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) with a minimum of three years' experience as a welder in a marine repair work environment.
- Five or more years' experience as a ship fitter/boilermaker or certificate/diploma from a vocational school in a related field is preferred.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card from the Department of Homeland Security.
- Ability to, or experience to operate rolling stock and lifting equipment such as rough terrain cranes, overhead cranes, scissor lifts, forklifts and boom lifts.
- All employment offers are contingent on the successful completion of a pre-employment physical, drug screen, criminal background check, and driving record check.
- Ability to meet any applicable United States Coast Guard requirements for welding.
- Ability to perform all assigned duties in safe manner, in accordance with established safety rules, procedures and guidelines.
- Ability to wear steel toed boots, safety glasses, goggles, face shields, hearing protection, hard hat, fall protection harness, personal floatation device, welding helmet, welding leathers, coveralls and overalls, and leather gloves. Must be able to be fitted for respirators and to wear them as required.
- Communication and interpersonal skills necessary to resolve issues and interact with personnel at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work overtime as requested.
- Ability to represent the Company in a professional manner.
- Ability to obtain a Transportation Work Identification Credential (TWIC) Card from the Department of Homeland Security within six (6) months of hire date.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Must possess a current, valid driver's license and good driving record to operate Company owned vehicles.
- Ability to travel to other company operations outside of maintenance facility to conduct essential functions of the position.
