Job Overview: Manager of Organic Search

As the Manager of Organic, you will play a pivotal role in executing and optimizing organic marketing campaigns through SEO and content creation. You are responsible for leading a team of skilled analysts, collaborating with other departments, and working closely with clients to ensure the effective delivery of results through execution and delegation. In this role you are expected to be a People Developer, Thought Leader, Advisory Consultant, Protector of Systems, Standards, and Client Outcomes.

Our ideal candidate is a Manager of Organic Search with 4+ years of diverse agency SEO experience for a mix of e-commerce and lead generation clients (both B2B and B2C) including enterprise or conglomerate-sized sites. The ideal candidate will have a deep expertise for advanced technical SEO troubleshooting, a proven ability to manage SEO implications during site migrations, and skills in organic search tracking, analytics, and reporting. Proficiency with tools like Screaming Frog, Sitebulb, Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, and keyword tracking tools is essential. You should be confident handling tough client communication, influencing stakeholders to earn alignment, and know when and how to push back on clients while coaching others to do the same. You’ll oversee and QA your direct reports' portfolios of accounts, while also driving your own client strategy and leading client meetings in an agency setting. You’ll also have experience presenting employee reviews and supporting the professional development of direct reports through mentorship. Experience with international SEO tactics, such as HREF Lang Tags and international ecommerce, is a strong plus.

Responsibilities:

Account Strategy:

  • Execute and manage end-to-end organic marketing campaigns, including SEO initiatives, content creation, 
  • Conduct successful end-to-end SWMs.

People Development:

  • Mentorship and coaching direct reports.
  • Conduct employee reviews.
  • Employee training/knowledge sharing
  • Contractor sourcing and management

Recruiting, Interviewing, and Hiring:

  • Review resumes, conduct screening interviews, and participate in 2nd round and final interviews to assess candidate suitability. 
  • Collaborate with the hiring team to evaluate candidates' qualifications and provide input in internal selection meetings. 
  • Ensure a smooth recruitment process by actively engaging with candidates and maintaining effective communication.

Account Execution :

  • Conduct keyword research and analysis to inform SEO strategies.
  • Implement on-page and off-page SEO optimization techniques to improve website rankings.
  • Monitor and analyze website performance using analytics tools, providing insights for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the seamless implementation of campaigns, adhering to best practices and client objectives.

Content Creation:

  • Develop and oversee content strategies that align with SEO goals and resonate with target audiences.
  • Coordinate content creation, ensuring it meets quality standards and is optimized for search engines.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Manage and mentor a team of organic analysts, providing guidance and support.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture that encourages skill development and knowledge sharing.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and set goals for team members.

Analysis/Reporting :

  • Utilize analytics tools to analyze the performance of organic campaigns.
  • Generate comprehensive reports, offering insights into campaign success and areas for improvement.
  • Contribute ideas about how to tell better stories with SEO data. 
  • Oversight and training on Pre-meeting insights. QA and training. 

Account Management:

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their business goals and objectives.
  • Provide strategic recommendations and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication.
  • Address client feedback and ensure client satisfaction.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other departments, including paid media, analytics & sales when value can be delivered that is worth the impact.
  • Contribute to cross-channel initiatives, providing organic expertise.

Variable Compensation:

  • Oversees progress of direct reports and helps coach them to unlock variable comp. If factors arise that are beyond their control, coach them about why those choices were made.
