Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Plans layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Connects wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Tests electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Uses a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps.
  • Inspects electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Prepares sketches or follows blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Works from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
  • Advises management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
  • Maintains current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations.
  • Places conduit, pipes, or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
  • Directs or trains workers to install, maintains, or repairs electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
  • Repairs or replaces wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.
  • Installs ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.
  • Assembles, installs, tests, or maintains electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, perform business management duties, such as maintaining records or files, preparing reports, or ordering supplies or equipment.
  • Fastens small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets.
  • Constructs or fabricates parts, using hand tools, according to specifications.
  • Performs physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit or moving or lifting heavy objects.
  • Provides assistance during emergencies by operating floodlights or generators, placing flares, or driving needed vehicles.
  • Provides preliminary sketches or cost estimates for materials or services.

Requirements:

  • Ability to adapt to an environment such as exposure to heat, dust, humidity, rain, sun, and wind.
  • Ability to handle equipment and operational noise levels exceeding 85 decibels, powered vehicle exhaust, paint fumes.
  • Must be a U. S. citizen to gain access to BAE controlled work sites.
  • Ability to adhere to various federal/state/local safety regulations, and equipment used.
  • All candidates must submit to and pass a post-offer drug screening, and qualify for a Rapid Gate ID card (company expense). Failure to complete any of these steps will result in disqualification.
  • Candidates must have access to reliable transportation to get to work and other job sites on time for start of shift.
  • Candidates must be available to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as required.
