The Process Engineering Intern in the Pharmaron Coventry Manufacturing Technology Team will work closely with the Coventry engineering team to perform basic process engineering tasks in support of GMP manufacturing projects. Projects may include facility and GMP utility expansions, engineering changes to existing equipment and processes, introduction of new manufacturing processes into the facility and improvement of internal engineering standard and procedures.

Job Overview:

Work or project assignments will be commensurate with the student's academic background to take advantage of their technical expertise and provide real life application of their classroom knowledge. At the same time, opportunities will be provided for students to expand their knowledge outside the boundaries of their classroom experiences.

Additional tasks:

  • Assist in the generation of process engineering deliverables in support of new production introduction projects, including calculation of mass and energy balances, equipment selection, unit operation modeling, and generation of GMP production documents.
  • Assist in the generation of project engineering deliverables in support of capital projects, including development of feasibility studies, specifications, qualification protocols, maintenance plans, manuals, etc.
  • Support process safety assessments made within team-based structure for evaluation of thermal, explosion, and electrostatic hazards, vent sizing, process hazard analysis, using existing Coventry procedures.
  • Maintain accurate electronic engineering files through the creation and revision of process flow diagrams (PFD), piping and instrument diagrams (P&ID), requirements, specifications, operating manuals, etc.
  • Interface with cross-functional resources to plan and implement procedural improvements to engineering project workflows.

What We're Looking For:

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student, actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, or closely related field.
  • Completion of at least freshman year of undergraduate academic program with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Availability to work full-time (40 hours/week) during the internship period, timeframe is negotiable based on academic program.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work well in cross-functional teams, delivering concrete project tasks in a timely manner.
  • Position is in Coventry, Rhode Island. Ability to commute to/from this work location is required.
