Weekly Schedule: Schedule to be determined upon hire and discussion with supervisor. Must be available every other Saturday from 10am-5pm. Library open hours are Monday- Thursday 10am-9pm, Friday 10am-6pm, and Saturday 10am-5pm.
Job Description The Library Associate provides friendly and welcoming service to the public and helps patrons use the library.
The following are the regular duties for this position. These duties are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned based on the needs of GRRL. - Help patrons borrow library materials.
- Register patrons for library cards.
- Take payments from patrons.
- Help patrons find the library resources they need.
- Provide trusted and reliable information to patrons.
- Create displays and conduct programs that reach diverse patron interests.
- Keep library materials available and refreshed for patron use.
- Ensure the library is safe and welcoming by managing the public areas.
- Assist the public in the use of library computers, printers and with other technology needs.
- Maintain the confidentiality of patron information.
Job Qualifications Education and Experience : - 2 years of postsecondary education or equivalent
- Library or customer service experience
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities - Excellent interpersonal skills, including building relationships across cultures
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with frequent interruptions
- Strong organizational skills
- Knowledge and ability to help others with computers and technology devices
- Knowledge of research and information gathering techniques
- Ability to respond to emergencies and situations that may be stressful or difficult
