Tanner Clinic has an immediate opening for a PACS Administrator.

Location: Layton

Hours: FT

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • System Management: Administer and maintain the PACS system, ensuring its optimal performance and availability. This includes managing system configurations, updates, and backups.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to end-users including radiologists, technologists, and other medical staff. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to imaging data and PACS functionalities.
  • Data Management: Oversee the storage, retrieval, and security of imaging data. Ensure compliance with privacy regulations and data protection policies.
  • Integration: Collaborate with IT and clinical teams to integrate PACS with other healthcare systems such as Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Radiology Information Systems (RIS).
  • System Upgrades: Plan and implement system upgrades and enhancements to improve performance and user experience. Evaluate and recommend new technologies or solutions.
  • Training: Develop and deliver training sessions for staff on PACS operations and best practices. Create and maintain user documentation and training materials.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor system performance and conduct regular audits to ensure the accuracy and reliability of imaging data. Address and rectify any discrepancies or issues.
  • Compliance: Ensure that the PACS system complies with all relevant healthcare regulations and standards, including HIPAA and other industry guidelines.
  • Vendor Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for PACS vendors and service providers. Manage vendor relationships and coordinate support and maintenance activities.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Health Information Management, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Certification in PACS Administration or related fields is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with PACS systems in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience with PACS systems and modalities (EXA, GE, Philips, Siemens).
  • Strong understanding of imaging modalities, PACS infrastructure, and integration with other healthcare systems.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting technical issues and providing end-user support.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical staff.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and data privacy standards.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure and network management.
  • Knowledge of operating systems, word processing, database applications, spreadsheet applications, e-mail applications, and diagnostic utilities.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting and operating computer equipment.
  • Knowledge of customer service-related concepts.

Skills:

  • Skill in organizing tasks.
  • Skill in using customer service skills when dealing with frustrated employees.
  • Skill in masterful problem-solving.

Abilities:

  • Ability to be a team player with effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and work independently.

Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.

Work Environment: Position is in a well-lighted office environment. Occasional evening and weekend work.

Mental/Physical Requirements: Involves sitting approximately 90 percent of the day, walking, bending, kneeling, stretching, or standing the remainder. May need to lift up to 30 pounds.
